ACTFL Proficiency Ratings and Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

The ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines have been available for thirteen years, yet little is apparently known about matching American and European rubrics.
Given the importance of placement and curricular articulation to both language educators and our students,
this presentation will compare the ACTFL and CEFR rating systems and will discuss implications of both to heritage language programs
while seeking the attendees' own experiences with language placement.
