For the 25th summer, Dr. Peter J. Schroeck will conduct a four-week travel/study session in Konstanz, Germany. The Program enables participants to visit Munich and enjoy the Lake Constance area and offers them an opportunity to learn German in a German-speaking environment.
Lake Constance, bordered by Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, is recognized internationally for its picturesque scenery and cultural treasures. This setting provides an ideal atmosphere for travel, recreation and relaxation, as well as for study. Participants will be housed in single efficiency apartments at the University of Konstanz.
The Program begins with four days in Munich and visits to Salzburg and Neuschwanstein Castle. Day trips from Konstanz include Freiburg and the Black Forest, Meersburg, Überlingen (Germany), St. Gall, Zurich, Lucerne, Stein-am-Rhein, the Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen (Switzerland) and Strasbourg (France). Additional highlights are visits to the Alps and a cruise on the Rhine River. Activities are designed to provide students with an opportunity to practice German in everyday situations. Participants are also encouraged to attend the numerous festivals of this resort area and to interact with native speakers for further language improvement.
